Avocado Wholesale Prices in India — Mandi (APMC) Data
India's avocado wholesale trade runs through the APMC mandi system, and its price of record is the AGMARKNET daily report — the Government of India's official mandi price publication. The Gaddiannaram fruit market in Hyderabad is the country's most liquid avocado mandi, publishing daily minimum, maximum and modal prices already normalized to INR per kilogram.
This page is the trade-side view of the Indian market: the current mandi benchmark and min–max band, the day-by-day wholesale trend, and the source data behind every figure — built for domestic traders, distributors and importers who price against the mandi floor.
Market snapshot — as of 2026-10-12: the average wholesale price in India wholesale stands at ₹150.00/kg, the wholesale average at ₹151.61/kg and the retail average at ₹305.31/kg. All figures are recomputed daily from scanned market data.
Indicative USD equivalent: $2.31/kg across the latest observations.
Mandi fruit is predominantly domestic green-skin and Fuerte-type avocado from smallholder orchards. Imported Hass rarely passes through APMC markets — it sells through the modern import trade instead.
Projected 7-day average — linear trend fit over the recent series, aligned with the CIRAD-style weekly read.
Reading the mandi
Mandi quotes are raw trade. The minimum–maximum band on a given day can span two-fold, because a mixed lot of smallholder fruit mixes sizes, quality and origin. The modal price — the day's most-traded level — is the number to track: it filters the band down to the market's true clearing level.
Avocado is still a thin commodity in most APMC markets. Outside Gaddiannaram and a handful of southern markets, listings appear only sporadically — when avocado does show up in a daily report, it usually means a grower consignment arrived that day, not a continuous trade.
From mandi to import parity
The mandi floor and the import ceiling define India's wholesale opportunity. Domestic modal levels near ₹150/kg (~$1.70/kg) are far below import parity for Peruvian or Kenyan Hass, which lands at roughly double that after freight and handling. That gap protects domestic growers — and defines the arbitrage importers watch.
As Indian production scales and quality improves, expect the two levels to converge. Until then, the wholesale market is best read as two parallel books: the mandi book for domestic fruit, and the import book for Hass — each with its own buyers, its own seasonality and its own price floor.
Data sources & methodology
How these prices are collected
Wholesale rows are scanned daily from AGMARKNET — the Government of India's daily mandi (APMC) price reports — with the Gaddiannaram fruit market (Hyderabad) covered first and any other market included when avocado is reported. AGMARKNET quotes min, max and modal prices per kilogram; the modal is the tracked benchmark.
Each scan date is rebuilt idempotently and older history is preserved. The USD conversion shown alongside is indicative at a fixed rate. When the current day's report is not yet published, the most recent update is shown and dated accordingly.
Prices are informational market intelligence in INR, not financial or trading advice. Averages are recomputed regularly from the latest scanned market data and are quoted per kilogram.
Frequently asked questions
What is the current avocado wholesale price in India?
The live mandi benchmark — the modal price from the latest AGMARKNET report, led by Gaddiannaram (Hyderabad) — is shown in the statistics section above, in INR per kilogram.
What is AGMARKNET?
AGMARKNET is the Government of India's official daily mandi price reporting system. Every APMC market publishes minimum, maximum and modal prices for traded commodities — for avocados, it is the authoritative wholesale source in India.
Why does the mandi price band vary so much?
Because mandi lots are mixed smallholder fruit: sizes, quality and origin all vary within a single day's arrivals. The band spans that heterogeneity — the modal price is the cleanest read of the day's clearing level.
