Avocado Wholesale Prices in China — Guangzhou Jiangnan Market Data

China's avocado wholesale trade has a price of record: the Guangzhou Jiangnan Fruit & Vegetable Wholesale Market's daily bulletin. Jiangnan is the country's largest fruit distribution hub — imported avocado (牛油果) arrivals land there, ripen in its cold rooms and redistribute across the country, so the bulletin's low, high and reference prices per kilogram are the trade's clearing benchmark.

This page is the trade-side view of the Chinese market: the current Jiangnan wholesale benchmark and band, the day-by-day trend, and the source data behind every figure — built for importers, distributors and wholesale traders who price against the national reference.

Varieties — Hass & the green trade

Jiangnan trades imported Hass avocado (进口牛油果) almost exclusively, by origin lots from Peru, Chile, Kenya and Mexico. Domestic Yunnan fruit has begun appearing in small volumes but has not yet shaped the wholesale quote.

Reading the Jiangnan bulletin

The bulletin quotes three numbers: the day's low price (最低价), the high (最高价) and the reference (参考价) — the level at which the market actually clears. The low–high band is wide because wholesale lots vary by origin, condition and caliber within the same day; the reference is the number that matters for pricing programs.

Because Jiangnan redistributes nationally, its reference price is effectively the import-parity anchor for all of China. A shift of one yuan in the Jiangnan reference shows up in second-tier city wholesale prices within days.

The import funnel

Almost all Chinese avocado volume arrives as imported Hass — Peruvian and Chilean fruit through the main ports, growing Kenyan volumes, and selective Mexican lots. Wholesale economics are therefore driven by ocean freight, phytosanitary clearance and ripening capacity around the market, more than by domestic supply.

The wholesale-to-retail spread in China runs wide — online retail sells at roughly double the Jiangnan reference — which keeps wholesale margins healthy for operators who can manage cold chain and ripeness. Watch the reference price weekly: it is the single best indicator of where the entire Chinese avocado market sits.

Data sources & methodology

How these prices are collected

Wholesale rows are scanned daily from the Guangzhou Jiangnan Fruit & Vegetable Wholesale Market bulletin (jnmarket.net), whose prices are already RMB per kilogram. The reference price (参考价) is the tracked benchmark; the low–high band is reported as scanned.

Each scan date is rebuilt idempotently and older history is preserved. The USD conversion shown alongside is indicative at a fixed rate. When the current day's bulletin is not yet published, the most recent update is shown and dated accordingly.

Prices are informational market intelligence in CNY, not financial or trading advice. Averages are recomputed regularly from the latest scanned market data and are quoted per kilogram.

Frequently asked questions

What is the current avocado wholesale price in China?

The live Jiangnan market reference price — China's wholesale benchmark — is shown in the statistics section above, in RMB per kilogram, with the low–high band and recent trend alongside.

Why is the Jiangnan market the China avocado benchmark?

It is the country's largest fruit wholesale hub: imported avocado arrivals land and ripen there, then redistribute nationally. Its daily bulletin's reference price (参考价) is the clearing level the whole trade negotiates against.

How wide is China's avocado wholesale price band?

Wide — a single day's low and high can differ by half again, because lots mix origins, condition and caliber. The reference price filters the band down to the market's true clearing level.
